I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em

OK, it's Wednesday, which means I dedicate myself to you, the blog-reader, and answer YOUR questions here at WNST.net.

And, I do it absolutely free of charge.

You ask, I answer.

All questions, all topics, all issues -- they're all addressable...except you're not allowed to ask me if I'm amazed that someone actually voted FOR Paul Blair in his K.O.B.S. match-up against Johnny Unitas.  I'm not amazed anymore...nothing surprises me when it comes to voting.

Ask away and I'll give you my best answer.

Happy Hump.

If I were Daniel Cabrera.....I would be pissed! Why did Trembley take him out in the 7th against a guy that was 0-3 last night!?! Then the bullpen blows it and dont get me started on Bynum! UGH!!!! Do you also second quess Trembley's pitching decisions??? I mean he's done a great job coaching so far this year, but I cant give him a pass on this!!!! There are so many times this year, that I say to myself....What is he doing!!! (DF: Of course it was a bad move taking out Cabrera...Trembley has been barking about his pitchers "working longer" in games and then he takes him out after 101 pitches? DT should have gone out there and said, "Look, kiddo, this is YOUR mess, work your way out of it." Another pitching-decision-blunder by the skip.)

Sorry if you've already addressed this on the air, I've been out of town. Is it true that Glen "Coach G" Clark formerly of the Ed Norris show is going to be joining you on the Morning Show? If so, would he be your partner like Terry was, or the new producer? (DF: Yes, Glenn Clark is the new producer of the Comcast Morning Show. It's great to have him on board.)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By Jeff on 7/9/2008 6:46 AM

Do you think the O's will be idle in the trade market and maybe trade their chips in the offseason and do they sign any big name players in the offseason? (DF: I think they'll trade one or two guys at the deadline...Jay Payton or Aubrey Huff, perhaps. Off-season? I have no idea. Teixeira is the guy everyone in Baltimore is going to want but I don't think he's a $160 million player...and that's what he's going to want. No thanks.)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By FRANCHISE on 7/9/2008 7:17 AM

Is there an NFL imposed deadline date for Bret Favre to request a release from his inactive/retired status with the Packers???? If so, what is the market value for Favre in a trade???? My deal would be Kyle Boller (already signed for 1 year and under contract for 2008) to re-unite with another University of California product in Aaron Rodgers plus a 4th round draft pick from Baltimore in 2009!!!!>>>>What do you think???? Is this realistic???? (DF: I don't know what the price would be for Favre, but I don't think Boller and a 4th rounder would get the job done. Unless the Packers are asleep this summer.)

Drew, I really miss your show since your internet stream has been down, but I have one question. What are the chances that Evan Longoria makes the All-Star team? (DF: If he doesn't make it, they should cancel the All-Star game.)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By The "Armchair" QB on 7/9/2008 7:52 AM

Regarding the notion of a "deal" for Bret Favre, assuming the rumor of his wanting to "unretire" is true, why would he even consider playing anywhere other than Green Bay at this late stage in his career? (DF: Well, for starters, perhaps Green Bay doesn't want him back. Maybe they're "Favre'd out"...maybe they're ready to give the job to Aaron Rodgers...maybe there's a reason that Favre himself doesn't want to be back in Green Bay. Maybe it's money. Who knows?)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By Jesse in Jarrettevsille on 7/9/2008 7:57 AM

So the WSJ had an article yesterday that talked about some of the Rooney family wanting out of the Steelers so they could concentrate on their harness and dog racing operations. First of all, I thought things like harness racing and dog tracks were dying industries; is that stuff really a better investment than NFL football? Second, as a result of this story the Steelers fans here at work were wringing their hands at the notion of a “Non-Rooney” buying a chunk of the team and possibly relocating it. I can’t believe the NFL or the owners would have anything to do with moving the team from Pittsburgh, and this is all just some reporters trying to drum up a story out of nothing. What do you think? (DF: The Steelers will NEVER leave Pittsburgh. Tell your pals at work not to worry.)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By Silv on 7/9/2008 8:06 AM

Hey, whatever happened to the Ginsburg guy from the Examiner (AP?) that used to be on your show? Am I just missing him in the mornings or is he no longer on? I miss his insight. (DF: Dave Ginsburg is with the AP. He's still around...he comes on about once or twice a month, more during football season.)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By Joe of Bel Air on 7/9/2008 8:19 AM

Drew, after watching the Federer/Nadal final on Sunday I was wondering what are you top 5 non team sporting events that you have witnessed either live or on TV/closed circuit. Up until Sunday I thought the Thrilla in Manilla was # 1 but Federer/Nadal may have replaced it. What are your thoughts? (DF: Well, Connors/Krickstein in the '91 U.S. Open is still my #1 of all-time. No doubt. Federer/Nadal is probably in my top 5 now. The Tiger Woods-Bob May PGA shoot out at Valhalla is in my top 5 as well. Good question. I'd probably have to toss in Hagler/Hearns. It was brief, but very memorable. And in my top 5 would have to be the night Vince McMahon was in the hospital with a broken leg and called for a nurse and Stone Cold came in to the room dressed as a nurse and hit him with a bed pan.)

Re: I have the answers...or at least 22 of 'em    By Johnny Rocket on 7/9/2008 1:39 PM

Drew, here is a hypothetical situation and question for you. Suppose that Tiger comes back from his knee injury next year and things just aren't right with him. He suffers another injury to his knee or his back and it turns out that the new injury is career ending. If Tiger's career ended next year, would he be considered the "Greatest Golfer" ever or would that title remain with Jack Nicklaus? (DF: Depends on how you determine the "greatest golfer" tag, I guess. I'd say Tiger doesn't have to play any tournaments the rest of his life and he's already demonstrated he's a better golfer than Nicklaus. I blogged this about two months ago and listed the 8-10 things Tiger has accomplished that Jack never did. If you base your argument ONLY on major championships, than Tiger has to get to 19 to beat Jack's 18. If you actually know golf and understand the things Tiger has done, you realize that Tiger is already a better player than Jack ever was. Just depends on how you look at it, I suppose.)

Will the "Few Good Men" and the "Ask Pete" segments of the show ever return? I've always been a Nicholson fan, and the honor is all ours whenever we hear Peter the Great pontificate to the uneducated masses. (DF: Yeah, they'll both be back at some point. In fact, a certain bird on the tree tells me "Ask Pete" is a hit at OPACY with several front office higher-ups...)
