Time for another 'NST repair job?

Nothing else has worked, so why shouldn't we take over?

WNST has helped fix the Orioles OFF the field, but nothing - or no one - has been able to fix the O's Sunday ON-FIELD woes.

Until now.

Leave it to us, I guess.

We tossed this idea around on today's edition of The Comcast Morning Show and, although we don't have a clear answer yet on HOW we're going to fix them, I've decided we'll do the fixin' this Thursday morning.

Here's the deal.  Losers of 13 straight games on Sunday, the Orioles have tried promotions and divine intervention to end their losing skid and neither worked.  Yesterday, the team promised everyone in attendance a free ticket to a future game if they won - and that move backfired when they lost, 11-10.  And, prior to Sunday's game, Rev. John Bauer gathered the team in the locker room for a traditional Sunday morning prayer, although I highly doubt he asked the man above to insure a victory for the hometown nine.  It was probably more like a "keep the players healthy" prayer (does God have an axe to grind with Adam Loewen?), not one in which Rev. Bauer asked for intervention to stop the losing skid.

So, that brings us to this Thursday. We tossed around two ideas today on the show.  Do we go back to God one more time and ask, this time a little more bluntly and forcefully, for Him to take care of the losing skid this Sunday when the O's are in Boston?

Or, should we go the witchcraft route? Is it time to bring in someone who can take care of that losing skid with a little wizardry and their own form of "service to the community"?

God...or witchcraft?  Do we bring in a Man of the cloth and see if we can break the losing skid with some well-timed prayer?  Or do we find someone who deals in the supernatural and see if they might be of assistance?

What to do?

We're going to work on it this week and by Thursday, we'll have a plan in place to fix the Orioles in time to snap that ugly 13-game losing skid in Beantown on Sunday.

We took calls and e-mails today on the subject (God is ahead right now, 19-15) and you're welcome to chime in via the comments section below.

I voted for God, by the way.

If I'm lucky, maybe He can get the O's to stop their Sunday losing streak and get Matt Dryer in the team's front office to return one of my e-mails that I sent last week.

I know, I know...let's not get greedy, huh?

When you're done "fixing" the Orioles, get the internet service working properly! (DF: Not my ball of wax...I think fixing the O's might be easier than straightening out our internet issues!)

God's had his chance. Put Bunky Bartlett on the case...

Dude, get over yourself. You haven't "fixed" anything. They are still bottom-of-the-barrel as far as PR goes. Are they better than they were? Sure. Are they up to par? Absolutely NOT! There's still a LONG way to go until that organization is anywhere near "fan friendly" on or off the field.

Reverse the FTB and march back INTO the stadium the same time of the game you bailed out. Call it RTC (Reverse the Curse)

How about an exorcism by a catholic priest?

Re: Time for another 'NST repair job?    By The "Armchair" QB on 7/7/2008 3:47 PM

Does "voodoo" qualify as "witchcraft"? I think it.......do! If God could help the "O's", he'd have sent them a shortstop by now! So, voodoo it is........

Re: Time for another 'NST repair job?    By WeaverBeliever on 7/7/2008 3:47 PM

Do what Johnny Walker did 30 years on the old WFBR. He went to Kenya to find a witch doctor who would put a hex on Orioles opponents.

Re: Time for another 'NST repair job?    By Ricky Bobby on 7/7/2008 3:48 PM

You have the biggest ego ever. The funniest thing is that you and Nestor haven't helped the O's "fix" one single thing on OR off the field and never will.

Re: Time for another 'NST repair job?    By Mike T on 7/7/2008 4:39 PM

Word on the street is when THE RAVENS learn to evaluate, draft and actually keep a starting back in the backfield for 3 straight years THE O'S will only consider winning on SUNDAY'S. By the way, how many times have The O's coaches thrown out the following phrase to you when you were nice to them. How would you know if you never played the game at this level? That was Billick's favorite phrase when he went into his defensive mode

Re: Time for another 'NST repair job?    By David from Bel Air on 7/8/2008 7:13 PM

What exactly did WNST do to help the O's "off the field"? I thought both were not on speaking terms. Also, why does Drew keep crying about not getting return emails from the O's? It seems he makes this point in every other blog. Let me be blunt - The O's look at WNST as an insignificant nuisance with a egomaniac owner who has delusions of grandeur. Besides, why don't you spray your poison the Ravens way once in a while. Unless you think the football team is a perfect organization. (DF: By their mere definitions, I don't think one can actually be an "insignificant nuisance". If we bother them that much (to be a nuisance), wouldn't that make us SIGnificant? Hell, I don't know...just a thought.)

Re: Time for another 'NST repair job?    By robodog on 7/8/2008 7:07 PM

drew: i may be called a heretic, but i hope the orioles do NOT have much success this year, as it would derail them in their rebuilding plans. i keep getting feelings of deja vu to the season gillick wanted to trade bonilla, and angelos vetoed the prospective idea. too much success too quickly is not the way to build for the long term.
