Seeing Brooks' comment about not being treated like that very often is one of the saddest things I've read (sports-wise) recently. How cool was it that the York team had B. Robinson on the back of all the jerseys? I'd like to get one of those! Brooks should be treated like that on a regular basis here in Baltimore. Guys my age with kids would love to go to the stadium on a Brooks night. I'd go to Brooks night once a month if they scheduled it. Every good thing the Orioles have done this year, both on and off the field, is now tarnished by this public relations disaster. We've just been painfully reminded who owns the Orioles and who calls the shots.

You will receive no bashing from me but I am sure some idiot will even when this blog is a just cause. Don't feel bad about bashing the Orioles for this (I know you don't and you shouldn't) There have been articles written about Brooks since he had that statue built in his honor also in PA. Also he even spoke about it on WNST. The question was posed to him then and the answer he gave was basically verbatim as you wrote. I don't think he would come on air, paper or any other way and straight bash them for their "efforts" but his close friends and family probably would get the true feelings. I know he still loves the Orioles but probably dislikes somethings that have/are happening. Probably loves them but not "IN love" with them. It's great he received the award and all but I am willing to bet that the presenters were saying to themselves "What the hell are we doing in York,PA when Baltimore is playing a home game?" I am sure they went along with it and bought the story about Brooks being an owner and all but come on. That statue and presentation should have been here. The people in PA know it should have been here. There obviously are some hard feelings with almost all the legends except a few. I believe every retired number should have a statue somewhere around the park. The Orioles have been doing much better business but I would like to see the past acknowledged and the guys I only read and saw video of (I am 28) get their props too...Oh but wait they paid homage to the 79 team that lost and not the first championship team in 66...ummm. Regardless I have been a fan as long I can remember and like anyone else I just want to see a replica of the great teams my Dad told me about. I would give almost anything to be able to go back in time and see those classic and great teams play at Memorial Stadium. I want the Ravens to win the Super Bowl but I would kill to see the Orioles win the World Series in my lifetime. Good Blog and I hope all goes well with the online broadcast because I am bored as hell at work.

As we close in on this patriotic holiday , a holiday where we all are loyal to our country , this simply makes me sick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Our loyalty and true freedom is what separates us from the rest of the world,,,,,,,,,,,,,,while I agree Peter the Great has the freedom to do whatever he wants to , this is a disgrace to loyalty everywhere , shame on him................Drew , have a great Fourth...............<br>

All is right in the world again, hearing Steve Davis last night bashing the O's after not hearing a word from Drew in the morning had me kind of worried. Steve Davis also bashed the O's pretty hard for honoring the losing World Series team rather than honoring the 66 team or the 83 team on their 25th anniversary this year. God, has it been 25 years since the O's have been in a World Series? To O's Lover: The O's had an opportunity to fix things with Brooks this past Tuesday and blew it. Not only did they blow it, but they probably created an even wider gap now.

I don't know if the "spin detector" went off (need to replace the batteries), but Brooksie owns the team up there. So, why not use his name on his own product? If he owned the Baysox, then he would be presented the award down there. He might be Orioles for life, but he's not chained for life, either. Way to go, Brooks on the award !

Oh come on Drew....OK, the O's continue to step on their own d----. But give it a rest...they are playing some good baseball...enjoy it. You lost your press pass due to one reason and one reason only....Nestor put together FTB and walked out of their stadium! Enjoy the 4th...go home tell your son about the importance of the 4th holiday...chill!
